Santa Rosa Marathon/5K

What a beautiful weekend! It was in every single way... Sometimes I can't thank God enough for blessing me as He has! I was talking with a dear friend a few weeks ago about our families, and how we both agreed that with every passing year, a very sweet contentment seems to grow in our hearts and you just start to sink into that love and joy that your family brings you and you feel swallowed whole by the goodness of God.

So having said all that... :) I enjoyed a delicious Italian meal and entertaining movie with the belissima Giuliana Saturday night (I'm sure I spelled that wrong.) And then this morning was a vigorous 5K with some friends from work! It'd been awhile, but I still managed to improve on my last time, which was my goal! It's got me all amped up to run some more, and I've been googling local 10K's all day, ready to go a bit further! I'll be ready for that half marathon before I know it!

This afternoon was some very special time with just me and the girls since the boys were hanging with Daddy. We went to the park and Rea officially has mastered her bike with no training wheels, so we had to get some ice cream to celebrate! :)

Tomorrow will be catch up day and some computer stuff for work, and then back to the routine, and that's ok.... :) I cherish my weekends off!!!

By the way, please be in prayer for my dad, we are waiting on some test result from last week after a few "spells" with his heart.

Wings Over Wine Country!

My friend Cheryl and I had the opportunity to volunteer at a booth our hospital had set up at the Air Show this weekend at the Sonoma County Airport. FUN!!!

We handed out informational brochures, sunscreen, band aids, lip balm with SPF, and hand sanitizer (or "sand hanitizer", as I often said....) :)

The yellow Jelly Belly airplane was of course my favorite... Some people in a yellow convertible kept driving by throwing packets of jelly beans out into the crowd of people, and sadly I wasn´t close enough to grab any! The Jelly Belly Factory is about 1 and a half hours from here, so it´s on my to do list next month when I have some down time with the kids!

It was a gorgeous day, and tho I don't know a lot about airplanes, I find them utterly fascinating! We had a great view of the action from our booth! The C 17 was so awesome!!!

If only I´d gotten one of those humongous turkey legs on a stick from the food area... Oh well, maybe next year!!

Is It That Time ALREADY!?!?!?!?!

Well I guess it's officially back to school season around here! 3/4 of my little ones headed off to school together this past Wednesday. Wow. I'm still sorta in shock about that. Anyhoo....

I'm delighted that my children are SOOOO excited about school. They seriously LOVE it and look forward to everyday! They are poster children for some "Crazy About School" ad... Should I worry that they leave me so willingly? Will they be like this when it's time to go to college, or get married?.... (sigh) Well, of course it's a good thing, I suppose. Youthful exuberance abounds for sure around here.

It's been a rather jam-packed, action-filled past week. Ya'shar and Ni'ke and I just got back from a fantastic visit to Ohio on Monday night (I'll post lots of pictures from that adventure later!) and then Tuesday was all about running around, doing laundry, getting groceries and school supplies, and getting ready for school the next morning! UGH! (No, I still have not unpacked my gigantic suitcase.) I had to work Tuesday night, and thanks to some awesome coworkers, I was able to skip out 1/2 hour early Wednesday morning to get home and walk everyone to school. SOOOO glad we did, b/c it was very busy and I would have never been able to park or drop them off. So we took our time and enjoyed chatting on the way!

Ni'ke was very very quiet. She was so excited to go, so I hoped that she wasn't having second thoughts, but she assured me she wasn't nervous. She was just taking it all in, I think!

Ma-lak thankfully got settled into his class after a bit of a mess occurred the day before. I had stopped by the school the evening before to pick up the class lists and lists of school supplies, and to my astonishment, Ma-lak was not registered to be in school there! We had briefly planned earlier in the summer to put him in another school at a nearby district, but long story short, opted not to. After getting that all settled, or so I thought, we put him back at the same school (where they would all be together) and in a 2/3 combination class (2nd/3rd grades together) hoping it would challenge him enough to keep him NOT bored, and out of trouble. So he did get settled in the right place, but I was a wee bit stressed till it happened! So far it all seems to be going great.

Rea is completely thrilled to have Ma-lak's teacher from last year. It'll be interesting to see what all the teachers have to say when we have parent/teacher conferences in early September. All I know is that they love school and I've had no bad notes sent home yet! :)

I'm in the middle of a self-imposed debate as to whether it's more economical vs convenient to pack school lunches vs buy the school lunches. It seems to be quite expensive either way, and any suggestions you moms out there might have would be much appreciated!

Currently, I'm on Day #6 of an 8 day stretch at work... I've decided my new life motto should be: "It seemed like a good idea at the time." Been super busy at the hospital, super busy with back to school, and I'm looking forward to having a couple weeks off in September to just BREATHE!!!

Will post pictures soon of our Ohio trip! I miss you all so much!
