Visit to the Mother Ship

Rea and I hit the mall last week for a little bit of back-to-sch**l shopping. Where has this summer gone?! I guess the same place as all the rest, into a mental file labeled "Awesome Memories of My Children During the Summer That Went Too Fast."

Rea seems to be incredibly tall for her age. She's 4 ft 5 inches (a couple taller than her older brother) and she's easily 6-8 inches taller than a lot of the kids in her class. We spent a good portion of the afternoon trying to find jeans that were long enough yet still fit her everywhere else!

This afternoon she asked me, "What size am I going to wear when I'm a grown up?" I told her we'd have to wait and see, and that it was a long way off, being a grown up. She was VERY concerned and seemed fixated on how big she was going to be. I have no idea where this all came from, and finally I said, "Sweetie, sizes don't really matter too much, you're the perfect size right now because this is how God made you. And besides, there are really only two sizes of clothes in the world anyway: it fits and it doesn't." She seemed happy with that answer.

My little girl is growing up too fast.
